impress nails review

I’ve been having a bit of a nightmare with my nails of late, I say a bit, they are in an utterly dreadful state. After falling madly and deeply in love with acrylics, I soon discovered the sorry state that they had left my nails in.

I am now in the process of attempting to grow them naturally. So, when I came across the ImPress stick-on nails, I was rather excited. My initial reaction was how pretty they were – everyone loves a bit of glitter – and how lovely the nail varnish bottle shaped packaging they came in was.

Taking them out of their rather cute casing, I cleaned my nails with the provided wipe, roughened their surface a little with the inclusive file, and peeled off the plastic tab on each nail. Application of the nails was an utter breeze, with each nail firmly sticking on due to its gelled backing.

SO, What did i think of the stick-on impress nails?

They look absolutely wonderful on, and I wish my nails could actually look this pretty daily! Although seemingly secure, unfortunately, I did lose a thumb nail by day two and had to seek out some nail glue elsewhere. Although I salvaged it and reapplied the nail, it was a shame that it hadn’t lasted its promised week.

However, the rest have been very secure, and I do partly blame my long hair for catching the nails and teasing them up. This isn’t overly practical for someone who commutes in rush hour within London daily – my hair is literally everywhere.

Overall, I am very impressed with the ImPress nails, the selection available is extensive – and fabulous – and they really are a great alternative to acrylics and gels. I have found them to damage my nails so terribly now that I will probably avoid them all together now. If you are looking to grow your nails without damage, ImPress nails are for you.

Have you tried ImPress nails? What do you think of the ones I have chosen?

L’Oreal Gold Obsession in Pure Gold Lipstick Review

Well, after investing and falling head-over-heels in love with the L’Oreal Gold Obsession in Nude Gold, the only next logical step was to make the Pure Gold shade my own (I still want them all).

Bought alongside the Le Lip Liner Magique (a multi-use transparent lip liner), I am delighted with this oh-so-unique shade. I can see why the L’Oreal Gold Obsession in Pure Gold is the headlining item in the Color Riche range and why this collection is so popular.

Like the L’Oreal Gold Obsession in Nude Gold, I noticed the Pure Gold shade lipstick lasted after application. All the lipsticks in the Color Riche collection are moisturising due to a combination of Omega-3 oils and Vitamin E.

In the collection, there are “5 iconic shades to suit every skin tone; Nude Gold, Rose Gold, Rouge Gold, Plum Gold, as well as a statement Pure Gold shade.”

So, how do I feel about the L’Oreal Gold Obsession in Pure Gold lipstick?

What I adore about the Pure Gold shade is that it is beautifully pigmented, a truly mesmerising metallic finished with gold shimmer. You can layer to create a more dramatic effect if desired and it is bold without being brash.

This shade can be used alone or applied over others, team with your favourite statement lipstick for added wow factor. Depending on how daring you are, the Pure Gold shade can be used throughout the day, it doesn’t just have to be a late night love affair.

I found myself only reapplying once throughout the evening and remained subtly sparkly throughout my delicious anniversary dinner (officially over a year, yay!). The texture of this lipstick is wonderful, with a smooth application that lasts. Everyone needs this unique stand-out lipstick in their collection, without a doubt.

Have you tried the L’Oreal Gold Obsession lipsticks? Which shade would you choose?

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter review

When it comes to highlighting, contouring and the like, I am a self-confessed novice. However, I am improving and one day I may just get there!

While looking to improve these skills and thus intensely browsing for an affordable (and pretty pink) highlighter, I came across this Makeup Revolution beauty.

The Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in Moon Glow Lights is a strobe highlighter and it is perfect for illuminating the face alongside, or instead of contouring.

Now, do be warned that due to the Vivid Baked Highlighter being a strobe highlighter, this means that it offers a subtle shimmer. If you are looking for an intense and defined look, you may want to look elsewhere.

So, how do I feel about the Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter?

Saying this, you can indeed build on and continuously layer this product if you so choose. Makeup Revolution says, “capture the light with our strobe highlighters… the light powder gives a natural illumination to the skin by diffusing the light. Can be applied both wet or dry for different intensities and very buildable.”

The beauty of this highlighter is that it can literally be used all over your face, and it is perfect for strobing. For a defined glow I tend to use it under my brow bone, diagonally across my cheekbones and atop my cupid’s bow.

My only vice with this product falls down to the packaging, already the print appears to be wearing away (probably due to my constant use no doubt). Other than that, this is my new beauty staple for whenever I need a subtle go-to glow.

What do you think of the Vivid Baked Highlighter? Which highlighter do you use?

L'Oreal Gold Obsession in Nude Gold

L’Oreal Gold Obsession in Nude Gold Lipstick Review

With Autumn well and truly here, it is that time of the year where we get super snug in cosy jumpers, don our jeans and dust down our leather boots. Oh, and invest heavily in nude and red lipsticks. Obviously.

Thanks to a raging storm on social media (Twitter and Instagram – I am looking at you), I caved and invested in the L’oreal Gold Obsession Lipstick in Nude Gold (I wanted more).

So, after a little daytime trip to Boots with mother dearest and a birthday gift card in tow, this little beauty was mine. Now, I am not a super fan of L’Oreal and I must admit that I only have a few of their lipsticks in my collection (Hello, MAC, NYX and YSL). However, this is something a little bit special.

L'Oreal Gold Obsession in Nude Gold - Stephanie Mulholland

So, how do I feel about the L’Oreal Gold Obsession in Nude Gold lipstick?

I am slightly in love with this lipstick for numerous reasons. Firstly, the variety of rich shades makes for a fabulous base set in my opinion, here’s to hoping they expand the collection with its new found popularity. So far we have “5 iconic shades to suit every skin tone; Nude Gold, Rose Gold, Rouge Gold, Plum Gold, as well as a statement Pure Gold shade”. The Pure Gold really does look amazing, will I be so daring on my next shopping spree?

While swatching away, I found the L’Oreal Gold Obsession lipsticks to be beautifully pigmented, each infused with a non-offensive gold shimmer overlay (don’t worry about looking like a 5-year-old with her first glitter ‘lipstick’) that leaves you with a metallic glossy finish.

I soon realised the once applied, the L’Oreal Gold Obsession lipsticks last for quite some time and are so far proving to be rather moisturising (thanks to the combination of Omega-3 oils and Vitamin E, hallelujah!). I found myself only reapplying once throughout my busy day and overall I remained wonderfully shimmery. The texture of the lipstick is a marvel too, gliding on wonderfully. I think I may have just found my new statement nude lipstick, who doesn’t love a bit of sparkle?

Have you tried the L’Oreal Gold Obsession lipsticks? Which shade would you choose?

Soap & Glory Fabulipstick

Soap & Glory Fabulipstick in Perfect Day review

I have always adored Soap and Glory products and have used them for numerous years, stocking up madly at Christmas time on all their gorgeous limited edition boxes.

When I discovered that Soap and Glory had really worked on their cosmetic range I was desperate to try some of their new products. I chose the collagen boosting, super-colour Fabulipstick in Perfect Day*.

The packaging a mix of pretty pink and cheeky black, a 1950’s British pin up boldly clutching onto her oversized prize (Fabulipstick of course!). The casing is black with pink print, the body gold as you remove the lid, a very glamorous looking item. What I noticed instantly was the delicious smell, probably down to the addition of shea and monoi butter.

So, what did I think of the Soap & Glory Fabulipstick in Perfect Day?

It has a creamy matte texture yet applies like a dream, with a luxuriously rich dark beige colour and a warm rosy pink finish. It is one of those shades that works day and night, utterly versatile and extremely wearable, with enough oomph to make a bold impact in the evening. I think the shade would compliment any skin tone and managed to look good on someone with one as pale as mine.

I found the lipstick really did make my lips look plumper. However, I am not entirely sure if it was down to the collagen boosting ingredients or the amazing colour!
I can only put the moisturisation and long-lasting nature of the colour down to the vitamin E in the Fabulipstick. After a few days of wear my lips continued to feel in a great condition with a lovely softness.
The colour of the lipstick is just perfect, a staple shade for any lipstick lover. It is long lasting, offering colour for hours and a subtle shine. The Fabulipstick is also available in the shades Naked Beige and Red My Lips, here is to hoping they bring out more!

Soap and Glory products are only available from Boots online or retail stores and the Fabulipstick costs only £9! Get your hands on one now, your pout will love you for it!

Have you tried the Fabulipstick? What is your favourite Soap and Glory Product?

MyMix Foundation in Fair01

MyFace Cosmetics MyMix Foundation in Fair01 review

I find foundation to be the most basic and important product in any beauty regime, it can really make or break a look.

First step is to find the right colour for you. This is something I often struggle with, it would genuinely shock you the amount of money I have wasted with my naivety when on the hunt for the perfect foundation. The next step is deciding the type of foundation you want, be it liquid, powder of mouse. I opt for liquid, finding it to working better on my normal/dry skin.
I decided to try out MyFace Cosmetics MyMix Foundation in Fair01*. MyFace Cosmetics work via a simple and effective system when it comes to their products, placing them into one of three categories: fair, medium and medium/dark. With this in mind, they use well-known celebrities to give you an understanding of what tiers (labeled from 1 to 3, the latter being the darkest) you fall into within the category. I found this extremely helpful, matching my skin tone (Fair01) to the likes of Scarlett Johansson and Emma Watson in seconds.
I found the contents to be quite fluid and this was rather frustrating. This in mind, I applied the foundation using my finger tips and my well-loved ‘dot’ method (I shall show this one day!) and the coverage was lovely. It felt like a second skin with its matt finish and clean smell. After a day of wear it was still firmly on, and my skin looked bright and felt wonderfully smooth. I was amazed that it had not dried it out and left my face feeling hydrated.

So, did MyFace Cosmetics MyMix Foundation in Fair01 offer the healthy glow they promised?

My answer is yes! This is the perfect foundation for normal/dry/combination skin tones (I find liquid foundations on oily skin tend to wear off quickly but it may work with a primer). However, the ‘colour-correcting formula’ can only go so far. I believe the product to sufficiently reduce redness but am doubtful as to whether it would work as an entire cover up on acne prone skin.

I also adored the colour match method, it is as flawless as the foundation and guarantees a perfect match every time! The packaging is also a bonus, the tube is sleek, making it easy to slip into the smallest of bags. With impressive coverage and delightful texture, there is no need to worry about top ups!
You will feel the fairest of them all! If you are as pale as me that is…
