10STORE Floral and Frill Long Sleeve Dress

OOTD: FloRAL fRILLS with 10STORE

Spending a weekend in Manchester, I knew I would get the opportunity to take a new outfit or two for a spin. I had a 10STORE dress just dying to be worn – and I myself, desperate for some fancy cocktails.

Sunset by Australasia would be the perfect place. So, I slipped into the floral and frill long sleeve dress and sought out some frozen Prosecco sorbet blends.

This A-line mini cocktail dress is fabulous, with a bold green colour and multi floral print, embellished with pink and white flowers throughout.

So, what did I think of the floral and frill long sleeve dress?

It’s all in the details in this pretty long sleeve dress, which features a round neckline, back button fastening alongside a keyhole cut-out and button embellished cuffs.

The best part? Its V-panel frill front and hem, alongside its tie wraparound waist. What I love, is the frill detail is rather subtle, yet manages to really bring the dress to life.

10STORE offers branded clothing at £10 or less, they sell high street brands (undisclosed) and offer quality clothing at super affordable prices.

What do you think of the floral and frill dress from 10STORE? What is your go to cocktail dress?

Why every girl needs emerald earrings

What girl doesn’t love gemstones and a bit of sparkle?

Let’s face it, anything that glimmers is a girl’s best friend and I was lucky enough to get my hands on a pair of emerald earrings from The Diamond Store.

Of late, colourful gemstones have been increasing in popularity, gracing red carpets, parties and publications globally. So, here is every reason why every girl needs a pair of emerald earrings.

The Diamond Store 9 Carot Gold Emerald Earrings | The LDN Gal

The history of emeralds

Emeralds are celebrated for their vivid colour and contextual meanings, having been worn since ancient times, emeralds were introduced to Europe in the 1500s.

As expected, green connotes nature and the emerald is believed to encourage a myriad of enhancing properties including balance, fertility, growth, healing and peace. The precious gemstone therefore looks after your mental, physical and spiritual well being.

Not only is their meaning so special – and the emerald so unique – but these bold and bright gemstones add a touch of class and sophistication to any outfit, alongside a splash of calming colour.

What is your favourite piece of jewellery? Do you prefer emeralds to diamonds or vice-versa?

OOTD: Boob Crop T-Shirt and a JEMIMASARA interview 🙋‍♀️

OOTD: Boob crop t-shirt by JEMIMASARA

When I discovered JEMIMASARA, I fell a little bit in love. An online store brimming with fantastic feminist and iconic clothing, tote bags, jewellery, prints and accessories, adorned with wonderful illustrations throughout.

Their unisex collection includes a selection of illustrations inspired by the ‘martini ladies’, and generally they are pretty quirky. The boob crop t-shirt is certainly a fun addition to any wardrobe, with a fantastic feminine print and rough cut finish.

I was very lucky that the wonderfully talented owner of JEMIMASARA, Jemima agreed to answering a few questions about her brand:

A JEMIMASARA interview

How did you go about establishing the brand?

2016 seemed a bad year for us all and for me it was a time when I personally hit rock bottom. I had forgotten all sense of self-love and confidence, due to a number of negative situations happening at the same time, and I had no idea how to bring these key elements back into my life. That’s when I realised I was drawing these naked ladies who “had martinis and loved themselves”. Overtime, I started becoming one of these carefree ladies, thus my alter ego was born. The illustrations helped me find my own confidence and self-love, so I wanted to share this. I want to share this path of recovery for others to use. In the future, I want to break into fashion, testing its conventions by not conforming, just as a ‘Martini Lady’ would do.

Have you always had an interest in illustration and fashion?

The word ‘fashion’ always scared me a little, I think of the film ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ with the main character being this scary lady and a non-accepting environment. So no, I guess I didn’t, but now that I am creating fashion designs and illustrations and selling ready to wear collections; fashion and illustration has changed in my mind. Fashion and illustration is a way of expressing your thoughts, fears and passions for people to wear and have. They can express it in their own unique way too and this is something I have always wanted to do. I have always wanted to influence people and their life – to make them live a happier one and inspire them.

Your tops are fun and some even a little risque – what is your inspiration behind them?

The brand celebrates the female form through the creation of the “Martini Ladies” illustrations. These are positive, fun loving and risqué ladies with few boundaries, ladies who love themselves just the way they are. My clothing and designs is based on these women, just owning their life and doing what they want. My work seeks to find realism within the female form. I take influences from the Renaissance divine, Henri Matisse and the pin-up ladies of the 1920s. These influences have created my vision for ‘The Martini Lifestyle’.

What are ‘martini ladies’, did you coin the phrase?

The brand celebrates the female form through the creation of the “Martini Ladies” illustrations. These women boast of their uninhibited self-worth for others to take inspiration from. The humorous illustrations I create are of positive, fun loving and risqué ladies with few boundaries, ladies who love themselves just the way they are!

The message of the ‘martini ladies’ is that I want everyone to feel beautiful, elegant and confident in his or her own right and I want to support and celebrate women around the world. So yes, I created the phase of ‘martini ladies’ or ‘the martini lifestyle’ so express this.

You promote self-love and confidence – what makes you feel confident?

For me, self-love is about acceptance. Acceptance of your beautiful, individual imperfections. The things that make us who we are. That could be a scar, freckle, your little toe, bad habit or a hobby. These individual imperfections are always something we as humans find hard to accept, especially in our day and age where social media plays such a massive role in our life. For me, the most important daily aspect of self-love and confidence, is not to see yourself as a whole but to look at the things you enjoy about yourself and your strengths. It might be your eyes, your elbow or your goofy laugh, I don’t know, but to look at that ‘thing’, whatever it may be, and see it as a unique entity.

As I said before, self-love is about acceptance and for me that’s accepting something I like about myself every day. I usually do this in small ways as the main thing for me is accepting I am an artist and that others may appreciate my works. My designs/illustrations themselves were a road of recovery for me; they are my way of learning more about a different side to me which I am wanting to share and others to be influenced by. When I write the words in those speech bubbles, I feel empowered and actually it’s my way of accepting myself every day, making me feel more confident in my everyday life.

What is the future for JEMIMASARA?

I want JEMIMASARA to break into fashion and lifestyle and I want to break fashion conventions and traditions. JEMIMASARA is all about campaigning to empower women and men too – freeing themselves of boundaries imposed by modern life through illustrations and designs.

Do you have a message for the girls reading this?

To any girl out there, just know that everyone struggles with themselves, you wouldn’t be human if you didn’t. We all grow at different rates; we are all beautiful unique individuals. Don’t worry if you find it hard to get up in the morning, its normal. I find it hard every day and I preach self-love and confidence. Just know that acceptance is important. Accepting yourself and what you do.

Understanding that you, your hobbies and habits are beautiful and you are constantly moving forward and reaching for the stars.

What do you think of the JEMIMASARA boob crop t-shirt? What questions would you put to JEMIMASARA?

Forge & Foster Rose and Mesh Classic Watch - The LDN GalForge and Foster review

I’m always excited to discover new accessory brands. Especially when the words ‘luxury’, ‘fashion’ and ‘affordability’ are thrown into the mix.

Forge and Foster emulate just that. A high-end watch company based just outside of London, they work with creatives across Europe to ensure their products are as pretty as they are practical.

Selling directly online, they ensure competitive prices without compromising on quality. Trust me, luxury and affordability come hand-in-hand.

They offer a gorgeous selection of watches for women and men, as well as bracelets. They have a traditional British aesthetic with large watch faces, a variety of leather or coloured stainless steel straps and gorgeous finishing detail.

Is Tutti Rouge the best UK lingerie brand for fuller-busted curvy girls?

Tutti Rouge Rougette Alexa Lingerie Set

Tutti Rouge lingerie review

If you are female with a chest bigger than a DD, this post is for you. Growing up with a bust that was somewhat larger than this was quite frankly, a nightmare.

If you did manage to find pretty lingerie, it would cost a small fortune and be a harrowing investment at best. If you found a bargain, there was a 90 per cent chance it was pretty hideous.

So, you can imagine my delight when I discovered Tuttie Rouge on an Instagram spree. Tutti Rouge are a UK-based company that specialise in curvy girl lingerie, catering for sizes from a D to J cup – it is a pretty exciting find to say the least.

Tutti Rouge Rougette Alexa Lingerie Brief Close Up

So, what did I think of the Alexa lingerie set by Tutti Rouge?

I was delighted when the Alexa bra and briefs arrived, forming a truly beautiful and complimentary set to say the least.

The Alexa bra features molded cups, an adjustable harness design and patterned mesh panel detail, the heart decal to adjust its straps was a pretty cute addition, I must admit.

The Alexa brief completes the set, these high waisted brief feature sheer panels complimented by black patterned lace detail and a two-tone patterned mesh panel centrepiece.

Tutti Rouge Rougette Alexa Lingerie Bra Detail

Overall, I am very satisfied with this set, it is hard to find pretty and practical lingerie as a fuller-busted woman and the selection of underwear at Tutti Rouge offer just that.

I have to admit, the harness and heart detail on the bra and the high-waisted briefs were an absolute winner for me.

Tutti Rouge also offer a selection of supportive and decorative bralettes for those who prefer a soft lace cup style.

What is your favourite item from the Tutti Rouge collection? Do you struggle to find pretty lingerie in your size?

Affordable birthstone rings by jewellerybox.co.uk 💍

September Birthstone Ring by jewellerybox

What girl doesn’t love a sparkly ring on her finger? Even more so when it is an absolute steal. While browsing the jewellerybox website I utterly fell for this sterling silver sapphire gemstone ring*.

When it arrived a few days later in the quaintest little box (just look at all the love and care put into the packaging) I could not wait to see it. Inside was the most dainty ring, a slender sterling silver band adorned with a sapphire gemstone.

Due to its slim band, this ring is absolutely perfect to stack alongside other rings and there are an array of rings on the jewellerybox website for it to be placed atop. Just think of the pretty stacked creations you could be wearing!

Now, the avid reader will realise that I am in fact an August baby, and thus, a peridot would be my gemstone. However, the deep blue of the sapphire stole my heart in this case and I went against the zodiac, stars and astronomy.

14462853_1191526827586069_258348693714996610_n

So, what do think of the September Birthstone Ring?

Do not fear though, because each star sign is covered and there is a wonderful array of birthstone rings, earrings and necklaces at jewellerybox, making the collection a perfect present all-year-round for that special someone in your life.

When it comes to jewellery, everything I wear must be sterling silver or gold. This isn’t due to some deep-rooted snobbery as unfortunately I flair up within the hour. As you can imagine, this can be pretty pricey if I want to accessorise myself (hence why I am so delighted with my new ring and its ability to match my outfits).

Honestly, the amount of affordable and fashionable jewellery on the website is astonishing, and all of the extensive collection is sterling silver or 9ct gold (so no itchy ears, hands or necks – jewellerybox are assay assured so quality is guaranteed) so you can cast all that tacky faded costume jewellery aside.

If you are wondering what to get as a gift, now you know (you can thank me later).

What do you think of my sapphire gemstone ring? What is your favourite product on the jewellerybox website?

The age old plus size debate and hopes for a fashion industry revolution

Catwalk-vert

Over the last few weeks, people have been flocking to their social media accounts in masses in outrage over the labeling of healthy women as ‘plus sized’ models.

In Britain, any woman above a size 8 is deemed ‘plus size’, yet the average size of British women is a size 14 and often well within their BMI spectrum (not the greatest measurement of health but the standard).

In my opinion, use of the word ‘plus’ connotes and infers that these women are of an additional weight and thus are overweight, which they are certainly not.

Australian and Italian model Stefania Ferrario  is a healthy British size ten, yet is still considered ‘plus sized’ in the fashion industry.

I am sorry, but how is Stefania Ferrario in any way ‘plus sized’? She is so beautifully figured it makes me (and probably many more women) weep, perfectly toned curves with the grace and morals to match.

Stefania-vert

Many of these models are actively uniting to challenge the fashion industry and their crass beauty standards and ideals. They hope to revolutionise them and drop the term ‘plus size’ entirely, consistently proving themselves to be acting as positive role models for young girls and women globally, and this needs to happen.

Personally, I believe only ‘healthy’ (by medical standards) models should be presented, the promotion of anything else is never good for the impressionable who often aspire to meet these skewed beauty standards.

Saying this, I do understand that women can be naturally smaller or larger, but those who go to extremes to maintain their weight should not be the visual representation presented by the world of fashion.

Traditionally, the reason slender women are often used to represent fashion designer clothes on the runway is because their slim frame proves similar to the designers initial 2d sketches. Which enabled designers to envision the finished visual result.

However, these models are  not reflective of the women across society who are the consumers of the fashion industries products.

Fronted by Australian actress and TV personality, Ajay Rochester, these modelling activists have inspired the viral Twitter campaign #droptheplus, in a bid to gain worldwide attention, recognition and action from the fashion industry.

Stafania Love Your Curves

French MPs have now legally banned the use of ‘ultra-thin‘ models on catwalks in France.

Those who hire models who do not meet the legislated standards face fines of nearly €75,000 (around £55,000) and possible imprisonment of up to 6 months.

All models will have to have a BMI of at least 18 (as anything under is considered underweight) and a minimum weight of 8 stone, 9 pounds at a height of 5 foot, 7 inches.

At the end of the day, many models continue to not be representative of the spectrum of sizes of women in society.

Ideally, I’d like to see ‘plus size’ diminished entirely and ‘healthy’ sizing to be promoted everywhere.

What is your opinion on the matter? Are the French correct in banning underweight models?

Fashion: Say hello to O-MIGHTY clothing

O-Mighty Collection

Introducing O-Mighty Clothing

So, are you ever just browsing the Web or chatting away to a friend and discover a brand that you both simply adore?

The latter was the case for me. Last night during an actual ‘casual drink’ with my lovely friend Sayuri (a wonderful photographer-come-journalist-come-superwoman ~ do be sure to check out her work and various other ramblings here) she introduced me to O-Mighty and I fell in love, instantly.

Now, this site may not be everyone’s cup of tea fashion-wise. I often find that fashion is very much down to personal taste – at least it always has been with me, an avid failure when it comes to the latest trends.

O-Mighty is just a fabulous brand, and features a wonderful array of pop-culture, tongue-in-cheek graphic prints, and designs. They have tops (think halters and crops – perfect for summer), bottoms (cute bodycon, flattering skater skirts and ‘booty’ shorts for the more adventurous among us), dresses, rather obscenely worded ‘lingerie’, accessories and even swimwear!

The website originates from Singapore. Considering this, the pricing isn’t as friendly as you’d expect from an Asian website.

It is pretty bold and bright for most people but a lot of fun, match any of these items with something simplistic and they are easy enough to pull off without looking too erratically vibrant – and yes, I would wear ALL of this.

What do you think of O-Mighty? Anything pictured that takes your fancy?
